What are the different ways of getting to Machu Picchu?
There are three options:- From Cuzco: you'll need to plan a transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, then add the train between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes. You will then spend the night in Aguas Calientes before visiting the archaeological site the next day.
If you are planning to climb Machu Picchu, it is advisable to take the return bus from Aguas Calientes.
Finally, you can find the entrance to Machu Picchu and the various options by clicking on "Add" and then " Activity" at "Aguas Calientes".
- From the Sacred Valley: in the same way as from Cuzco, you can stay in the Sacred Valley and then take the train directly from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night before visiting Machu Picchu the following day.
- The 5-day Salkantay trek from Cuzco: you can choose to do the famous Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. They will cover 65 km in 5 days. You can add this activity from Cuzco.
